UCAS points questions
What are UCAS points?
UCAS Tariff points turn qualifications and grades into a number, so universities and colleges can compare different qualifications. Some courses state entry requirements in points; many state grades instead.
How many UCAS points is an A Level?
A* = 56, A = 48, B = 40, C = 32, D = 24, E = 16. So AAA is 144 points and BBB is 120.
How many UCAS points is a BTEC?
A BTEC Extended Diploma ranges from 48 (PPP) to 168 (D*D*D*). DMM is 112 points. A BTEC Extended Certificate is worth the same as one A Level: D* = 56, D = 48, M = 32, P = 16.
How many UCAS points is a T Level?
Distinction* = 168, Distinction = 144, Merit = 120, Pass (C or above on the core) = 96, Pass (D or E on the core) = 72.
Do GCSEs count for UCAS points?
No. GCSEs carry no UCAS points, but many courses and apprenticeships ask for GCSE English and maths.
Do apprenticeships use UCAS points?
Most employers set grade requirements rather than points, and you apply to them directly. Some degree apprenticeships are also listed on UCAS. Your points still help you read the requirements.
