A career platform Jobcentre teams can use with the young people they support
Shine is free for every 16 to 24 year old. It takes about 15 minutes to get a personalised career plan, build a CV and see live local apprenticeships and entry-level jobs. Jobcentre teams subscribe to Shine to use it with the young people they work with. Shine does not replace work coach judgement, benefit decisions or DWP systems.
How Jobcentres differ from councils
Jobcentre staff work directly with individual young people, so they know who they are supporting. Council staff do not: councils using Shine see only aggregated totals, never named young people. See Shine for councils.

What Shine does not do
Shine gives no benefit advice, has no link to DWP systems and plays no part in sanctions or conditionality. It is not a DWP partnership. Staff should follow their own DWP guidance on using external resources and recording information about customers.
Pricing
Jobcentre teams pay the same annual prices as schools and colleges. Young people never pay.

Youth Hubs and the Youth Guarantee
Shine is a resource young people can use alongside these services. It is not part of them.
- Youth Guarantee
- Through the Youth Guarantee Journey, young people aged 16 to 24 on Universal Credit can get extra help from DWP to find work, training or an apprenticeship.
- Youth Hubs
- Youth Hubs are local spaces where anyone aged 16 to 24 can get help with skills, work, confidence and wellbeing.

Is Shine free for young people?
Yes. Every 16 to 24 year old can use Shine free, with or without a referral from a Jobcentre.
What does it cost a Jobcentre team?

Does Shine connect to DWP systems?
No. Shine has no link to DWP systems, benefit records or work coach tools.

No. Shine is an independent career platform run by Shine AI Ltd. It is not endorsed by, or in partnership with, DWP or Jobcentre Plus. Staff should follow their own DWP guidance on using external resources and recording information about customers.
How is under-18 consent handled?
Signup is age-gated, and Shine is for people aged 16 and over. Young people under 18 get extra safeguards, including stronger privacy defaults, as set out in our privacy notice.
