FAQs

What is NEET and why does it matter?
NEET stands for "not in education, employment or training". UK local authorities have a statutory duty (Section 68 of the Education and Skills Act 2008) to track and reduce the proportion of 16–17 year olds who are NEET. Reducing NEET improves life outcomes and is a key DfE performance measure.
How does Shine help councils reduce NEET?
Shine is mobile-first and built for the way 16–24 year olds actually search. It matches them to live local apprenticeships and entry-level roles, gives a personalised plan in under 15 minutes, and surfaces them to your team's outcome dashboard with consent — so post-16 advisors can prioritise the right young people quickly.
Is Shine compatible with our existing tracking and reporting?
Yes. Outcome data exports as CSV for ingestion into your client information system (CCIS, Aspire One, Capita One, etc.). We can also share anonymised cohort dashboards for member briefings and Ofsted/DfE returns.
What does Shine cost councils?
Shine is always free for young people. For councils we offer partnership pricing based on the 16–24 population in your area — typically combining a platform licence with bespoke local employer outreach. Pilot programmes are available so you can prove value before committing.
Can we co-brand Shine for our local area?
Yes — partnership and enterprise tiers include co-branding, a local landing page (e.g. shineai.tech/yourcouncil), and curated local employer pipelines. We can also integrate with your existing youth-services comms (SMS, WhatsApp, email).
Do you cover safeguarding and data protection?
Yes. Shine is GDPR-compliant, data is hosted in the UK/EU, age-gated registration with parental-consent flows for under-18s, and we publish a public safeguarding policy. We're happy to complete your data-protection impact assessment (DPIA) on request.
