Terms & Conditions

Effective 29 April 2026 · Shine AI Ltd · A UK-based education company.

These are the rules for using Shine. We've written them in plain English so they're easy to read — whether you're 13 or 113. By creating an account you agree to them, so please take a minute to read through.

1. Who we are

Shine AI Ltd (we, us, our) is a UK education-technology company. We help young people find careers, training and apprenticeships, and we help employers connect with the next generation of talent. We're registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and follow English and Welsh law.

2. Who can use Shine

Candidates (people exploring careers): you must be 13 or older. If you're under 18 we add extra safeguards to protect you. The info you give us must be true and your own.

Employers and partners: you must be allowed to act for your organisation, and the info you share must be lawful and not misleading.

3. What Shine does

Shine is an AI-powered platform for career exploration, skills matching and connecting candidates with employers. Features may change as we improve the platform.

4. How we use AI

We use AI to spot your strengths, suggest careers and match you to roles. AI helps us make suggestions — it doesn't make final decisions about you on its own. A human is always involved in decisions that matter (like an employer choosing to interview you).

You can ask us how a recommendation was made, and you can say no to AI-only decisions.

5. Not professional advice

Shine helps you explore options, but we're not careers counsellors, lawyers, or recruiters. Use our suggestions as a starting point, and check important decisions with someone you trust.

6. Your responsibilities

  • Be honest about who you are and what you've done.
  • Be kind. No bullying, harassment or discrimination.
  • Don't try to break, hack or misuse the platform.
  • Don't try to access other people's accounts or data.

Employers must use Shine fairly and never discriminate against candidates based on protected characteristics.

7. Data protection

We follow UK GDPR. We're the data controller for candidate accounts, and a processor for employers when they store applicant info. We use your data to run the service, improve it, and keep it safe. Read our Privacy Notice for the full details.

8. Fairness and intellectual property

We work hard to reduce bias in our AI. Employers must use the platform in a fair, non-discriminatory way.

Shine's content, designs and code belong to us or our licensors. Don't copy, redistribute or reverse-engineer it.

9. Availability and limits

We try to keep Shine running smoothly, but we can't promise it'll be available 24/7 or error-free. Where the law allows, our liability is limited to £100. We can suspend or close accounts if rules are broken — and you can leave at any time and ask us to delete your data.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these Terms — we'll let you know when something important changes. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
